SHS Outreach Caseworker

- Full-Time 76 hours per fortnight

The Opportunity
Working as part of the Samaritans Specialist Homelessness Service across the Taree, Great Lakes and Gloucester regions.
A Caseworker will work with women, men and families to support their housing needs with different levels of complexities. They will be responsible for the assessment, establishment of individual plans, referral, and the implementation of wrap around services.
In a client-centred, collaborative way, we will support the goals of ensuring that:
- Women, families, and men at imminent risk of homelessness are identified and supported to remain safely in their existing housing, or to secure stable housing
- Women, families, and men who are homeless are safely re-housed
- Women, families, and men who are in crisis are provided with safe and secure accommodation and supported to access stable housing
- Women, families, and men who are re-housed are supported to stay housed.

About you:
We are looking for a diligent individual who is experienced in supporting people in a range of ways dependent upon the needs of each person, whilst working within relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and frameworks to achieve positive outcomes for the people they are supporting. To be successful, you’ll also have:
- Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work or related disciplines, OR related experience with extensive background in working with women and families with mental health, drug and alcohol issues, and domestic violence.
- Experience in Case Management practice and strengths-based approach
- Effective conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrated understanding of the complex needs of women and families facing homelessness and domestic violence
- Demonstrated commitment and ability to maintain confidentiality and accountability; including client records, team and organisational discussions
- Understanding of and commitment to the principles of Child Protection, WH&S, cultural diversity and ethical practice
- Proven ability to effectively and proactively network and liaise with government and nongovernment service providers
